Poll shows KMT’s Hou surpasses TPP’s Ko at 18.4% (TVBS NEWS)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Support for Kuomintang (KMT) presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih (18.4%) surpassed Taiwan People's Party's (TPP) Ko Wen-je (16.7%) for the first time, according to a presidential public opinion poll from the KPOINT Survey & Research released on Monday (Sept. 19).
The poll also showed that Lai Ching-te of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) garnered 29.7%, maintaining his lead in the 2024 presidential election, while the independent presidential candidate Terry Gou was at the rear with 14.0%.
Compared to the poll in July, support for Hou increased by 3.3 percentage points, while that for Ko decreased by 1.5 percentage points. Lai's support slipped by 0.9 percentage points, while Gou's waned by 0.8.
This poll was conducted from Sept. 12 to 14 and surveyed individuals over 20 years old across all 22 municipalities in Taiwan via telephone interviews.
