TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The TVBS Poll Center released the latest public opinion presidential poll on Monday (Sept. 4), showing that the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate Lai Ching-te remains in the lead with a 30% support rate.
In the same poll, Taiwan People's Party (TPP) Ko Wen-je placed second with 23%, followed by Kuomintang (KMT) Hou Yu-ih's 19%, and Terry Gou- who announced his candidacy on Aug. 28- trailed last with 14%.
With Gou entering the race, Lai's support has dropped seven percentage points, Ko has lost five points, and Hou three, compared to the poll from last week.
The poll results indicated that Gou's entry had impacted the support rate for all three opponents; however, whether the business tycoon's presence in the race will further change the political landscape or not awaited observation.
