Taking to the stage, the Foxconn founder said that Lai had been his first pick  as he had previously expressed hopes to find someone "with surpassing capabilities to himself," "have a bigger capacity for love, "and "a stronger focus on building consensus among Taiwanese."

Gou had also stated that his deputy candidate would be female, as he hopes to focus on gender equality issues. "To me, Lai is a champion and advocate of women's rights movements," the business tycoon said.

He pointed out Lai's impressive resume, from her debut as a Taiwanese singer to her various degrees and fields of study in psychology, law, medicine, business, and political science.

In an interesting parallel, the entertainer recently starred in a Taiwanese Netflix drama, "Wave Makers," portraying a presidential candidate who won the race.

Gou aims to use her communication skills to unite Taiwan, insisting that the 2024 presidential election will be a turning point for the nation.

The presidential hopeful deemed the newly established duo the "strongest team" to bring about a "new and refreshing look for Taiwan."
