NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Business tycoon Terry Gou hinted at a possible bid for Taiwan's 2024 presidential elections at New Taipei City's Wugu-Shiandi Temple in Tucheng District on Thursday (Aug 24).
During his speech, Gou unexpectedly said, "The 2024 elections are very important; the people should vote for the candidate, not the party."
"I am not affiliated with any party," Gou continued, adding, "Support me if I choose to run; what do you say?"
During his speech, Gou mentioned the high level of support he has received from local supporters, which touched him deeply.
His frequent public appearances lately have sparked speculations about a possible independent election bid.
Earlier this week, Gou participated in activities in Kinmen but did not announce his candidacy as suspected by the public.
