TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Beijing and other regions in China are suffering widespread flooding and casualties due to the influence of Typhoon Doksuri's cyclonic circulation, causing days of torrential rain.

In response to the devastation, President Tsai Ing-wen expressed her condolences in simplified Chinese on Twitter on Tuesday (Aug. 1), hoping for a swift recovery from the flood disaster.

"The Taiwanese side is willing to provide assistance if the mainland has relevant assistance demands," said Huang Chung-yen, deputy secretary-general of the Presidential Office of Taiwan.

He explained that President Tsai is concerned about the disaster caused by Typhoon Doksuri in Beijing and wishes for the affected areas to promptly return to everyday life.

The outskirts of Beijing, including Mentougou and Fangshan districts, continuously report disaster situations due to the Typhoon's influence. This includes flash floods and reports of cars and buildings being washed away.

The Straits Exchange Foundation and the Mainland Affairs Council, two key Taiwanese bodies for cross-strait interaction, have echoed President Tsai's sentiments. They have also expressed willingness to offer any subsequent assistance or support needed.
