TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) reported on Friday (July 21) that the tropical depression in the region has intensified into mild Typhoon Doksuri. The bureau advises residents to commence preparations for typhoon prevention measures over the weekend as a precautionary measure.

The fifth tropical storm of the season, located east of the Philippines, is projected to potentially strengthen into a moderate typhoon by next Sunday (July 23) as it gradually tracks northwestward toward Taiwan.

CWB anticipates issuing sea warnings as early as Monday, with the latest forecast indicating Typhoon Doksuri will come closest to Taiwan on Wednesday (July 26) and Thursday (July 27), accompanied by heightened winds and rainfall.

Rainfall is expected to commence in eastern Taiwan from Tuesday (July 25), spreading to western parts of the island. Furthermore, long waves will likely emerge in areas such as southeast Taiwan, the Hengchun Peninsula, Orchid Island, and Green Island from Sunday evening.

Authorities underscore the significance of closely monitoring Typhoon Doksuri's intensity and potential shifts in its trajectory, as these factors will determine its impact on Taiwan. Vigilance and preparedness are crucial as the situation continues to develop.
