YILAN (TVBS News) — Taiwan's military conducted another test on bulletproof vests on Wednesday (July 19), successfully refuting armor ineffectiveness claims from a local YouTuber.
The military invited local media to witness the live-test event in Yilan, where military personnel explained the ballistic plates included within the bulletproof vests.
Technicians fired six shots at a bulletproof vest, successfully absorbing the impact. This test met the standards for local body armor compliance.
The military said that the ballistic plates used in their domestically-made vests passed the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) level III body armor compliance testing in the past. However, they have decided to conduct the tests again under the same standards due to recent claims.
As Taiwan's Han Kuang exercises approach, there is a great deal of attention on the military and their equipment as they prepare for their annual military drills.
