TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Shih Chien University's Avant-Garde Fashion Show on Saturday (April 29) showcased a stunning array of innovative designs that left the audience in awe.
Speaking to TVBS News, Feng-yu Hsu, dean of the College of Design at Shih Chien University, challenged the common misconception that having a good education equates to being creative.
To enhance creativity, Hsu explained how Shih Chien University provides a structured environment for students to develop and hone their skills.
The school has long recognized creativity's importance and incorporated it into its curriculum by including design classes and creative exercises in its educational programs.
These classes encourage students to think outside the box and develop innovative yet practical solutions.
In today's Avant-Garde runway show, students use their concepts as a central idea and experiment with many materials to interpret the story they are telling.
Hsu emphasized that it is essential for teachers to gather their thoughts and make them feasible. In fact, teachers can start by digging deeper into the gender or social issues they see in everyday life or even their inner thoughts.
However, bringing these ideas to fruition depends on the teacher and students coming together to get the art alive.
Overall, Hsu's interview highlighted the importance of creativity and education's role in enhancing it.
While education can provide a structured environment for students to develop their creativity, it is not the sole factor, she explained, stressing how a student's natural inclination and mindset towards creativity also play a crucial role.
By recognizing this, educational institutions such as Shih Chien University can encourage students to be innovative and think outside the box, ultimately leading to more tremendous success in their respective fields.
