TAOYUAN (TVBS News) — Alex Shorey, an Australian man, who was poisoned by a second-generation anticoagulant rodenticide known as "superwarfarin" in Taiwan, was transported on a medical flight back to his home country on Wednesday (May 3).

The incident, likely in early April, resulted in massive internal bleeding and multiple organ failures for Shorey.

However, after receiving intensive care at Taipei Medical University Hospital, his condition stabilized enough to be transported back home.

Initial statements released by Shorey's family in Australia claimed he fell ill after eating at a random food stall in Taiwan. However, this statement was disputed by many food stall owners in Taiwan.

Shorey later refuted the allegations, claiming that the food had nothing to do with his condition.

Although authorities are still investigating the incident, Shorey is fortunately on his way home to receive further care from his family.
