NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Despite inclement weather conditions, the Pingxi Lantern Festival proceeded as planned on Sunday (Feb. 5), with over one hundred lanterns taking flight into the night sky.
The lanterns made of waterproof material could withstand the rain and still soar to the delight of the young and young at heart.
The centerpiece of this year's event was a three-story tall bunny lantern crafted by a local artist and artisan.
Per local tradition, participants wrote their New Year wishes onto the lanterns, hoping they would come to fruition.
