TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Tourists holding Taiwanese passports can receive up to US$100 when visiting Palau from Jan. 4 to March 31.
Self-guided or group tourists can all apply for the subsidy.
Palau has been one of Taiwan's closest diplomatic allies for more than 20 years.
The archipelago is a popular tourist destination for Taiwanese looking for warm weather and water-related activities.
But the price to visit Palau is slightly higher than in other countries due to environmental taxes.
Therefore the Palau government hopes the money can boost tourists' motivation to visit the beautiful islands and shop and eat at local venues.
