BANGKOK (TVBS News) — TSMC founder Morris Chang arrived in Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday (Nov. 17) to attend this yea's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

This marks the 6th time Chang served as Taiwan's APEC representative, including five times at the request of the Tsai administration.

With U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris also attending the summit this year, Chang kept mum about any possible meetings with the vice president when asked by the media.

Although an eventual meeting isn't confirmed, media have speculated that the summit could be an opportune moment for discussions with the U.S. vice president about semiconductor supply chains.

In related news, tensions have remained high as Chinese President Xi Jinping also arrived in Bangkok on Thursday for the economic leaders' meeting.

As 21 officials from the Asia-Pacific economies gather for the two-day summit, Thailand asked that leaders "rise above differences" to discuss energy and food security issues and supply chain disruptions following the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the economic consequences of the pandemic.
