A recent poll by the China Times suggests that a KMT-TPP alliance could overpower the ruling DPP in Taiwan’s political landscape. The survey highlights potential scenarios and voter demographics, indicating significant support among young voters.

The 2024 presidential election in Taiwan is heating up as new polls indicate a tight race among the candidates. According to a recent survey conducted by Formosa Website, the Kuomintang (KMT) candidate, Hou Yu-ih, has seen a slight rise in support, reaching 19.9%.

Vice President Lai Ching-te, one of the leading candidates for the 2024 presidential election, has seen his popularity wane after a series of sexual harassment scandals within the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) surfaced in June. Although Lai started strong in the polls after declaring his candidacy for the presidency, his campaign has suffered setbacks due to recent controversies.

TVBS conducted a comprehensive poll following New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih’s nomination as the main opposition party, Kuomintang (KMT) presidential candidate on May 17.  

All major political parties are expected to compete in the 2024 presidential race, with the selection of a vice presidential candidate playing a crucial role in determining election outcomes.
