TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's largest smart city exhibition opens next week, bringing participants from 53 countries to showcase digital and sustainability solutions. The 2026 Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE, 智慧城市展) runs March 17 to 20 at Taipei's Nangang Exhibition Center. The event then moves to Kaohsiung from March 20 to 22, organizers announced Tuesday (March 10).
The expo will feature around 2,250 exhibition booths, bringing together city leaders, technology companies, and policymakers to explore smart city opportunities. Taipei Computer Association Senior Deputy Secretary General Charles Huang (黃鋆鋇) said at Tuesday's press conference that the event will highlight Taiwan's growing role in smart city development. The summit, known as one of Asia's largest smart city exhibitions, serves as a platform for international collaboration on urban technology.
The expo also features the 2050 Net Zero City Expo, highlighting solutions to help cities transition to sustainable systems as countries work toward net-zero emissions by 2050. In addition to exhibitions, the event includes forums and matchmaking sessions designed to connect governments, businesses, and technology providers. These sessions aim to foster partnerships for urban innovation and sustainable development.
Part of the summit takes place in Kaohsiung, reflecting the southern city's push to transform from a traditional industrial hub into a modern smart city. The transformation involves digital innovation and infrastructure upgrades aimed at modernizing Taiwan's second-largest city. Kaohsiung officials have prioritized smart city development as part of the city's broader economic revitalization strategy. ◼
