TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A fire destroyed a duck shed in Kaohsiung City's Luzhu District (路竹區) on Monday (Jan. 5), killing all 200 ducks and geese trapped inside. Firefighters dispatched 29 personnel and 13 vehicles to the blaze on Baomin Road (保民路). Crews contained the fire within 30 minutes of arrival, though thick black smoke and flames remained visible from a distance during the response.
The incident caused no human injuries, authorities confirmed. The fire completely destroyed the shed's iron structure, and authorities are still assessing financial losses. Investigators believe the blaze may have started when the owner used a heater to warm the animals, and officials continue to probe the cause to prevent future incidents. ◼
