TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan faces a significant temperature drop Tuesday (Dec. 2), with central and southern regions experiencing day-night differences exceeding 10 degrees Celsius (18°F), the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署), Taiwan's national weather agency, reported. Northern and eastern areas will reach daytime highs of 25 to 26 degrees Celsius (77 to 78.8°F).
WeatherRisk (天氣風險), a private weather forecasting service, reported coastal winds in northern and western Taiwan have intensified, with occasional gusts expected. Brief showers may occur in northern and eastern windward areas despite decreased moisture, while temperatures continue to fall. Central and southern regions will experience mostly cloudy to sunny weather with slightly lower daytime highs.
Meteorologists cautioned that Wednesday to Thursday (Dec. 3-4) morning will mark the coldest period of this cold wave, with the northeast monsoon intensifying significantly. The strengthening monsoon will bring cooler conditions to northern, northeastern, and eastern regions, with temperatures dropping to the week's lowest levels. Heavy rainfall may hit the Keelung north coast, Greater Taipei, and Yilan areas, while mountainous regions may experience snowfall.
Weather will turn cloudy with showers from Miaoli northward and in eastern Taiwan on Wednesday. Temperatures will drop further, with northern and northeastern areas feeling chilly and wet, while highs from south Taichung to Pingtung range from 22 to 26 degrees Celsius (71.6 to 78.8°F). Thursday (Dec. 4) will bring the week's lowest temperatures, with southern highs dropping to 25 degrees Celsius (77°F), before conditions improve Friday (Dec. 5). ◼
