TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan People's Party chairman Huang Kuo-chang (黃國昌) faced Taiwanese internet celebrity Holger Chen (陳之漢) in a friendly jiu-jitsu match Monday (Nov. 17). TVBS exclusively documented the martial arts showdown between the politician and fitness guru.

Huang has trained in jiu-jitsu for one year, losing 17 kilograms and cutting body fat from 30% to 16.8%. Chen, also known as the "gym manager" (館長) in Chinese, praised Huang's dedication to maintaining his fitness regimen alongside his political duties. The transformation demonstrates significant physical commitment from the party chairman.

During the friendly encounter, a coach guided Huang's movements against Chen's techniques. Chen said he nearly dislocated a joint during the bout. Huang acknowledged Chen held back his full strength, while Chen emphasized the importance of exercise.

A reporter also sparred briefly with Huang, commenting on his strength. Huang plans to continue jiu-jitsu training to develop both physical and mental discipline. The politician aims to integrate athletic pursuits with his political responsibilities.◼
