TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Typhoon Fung-wong (鳳凰) threatens to pass through Taiwan as the storm shifts northward toward the Taiwan Strait Monday (Nov. 10). The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署), Taiwan's meteorological agency, reports the typhoon could turn northeast and directly impact the island.
Heavy rain advisories affect Keelung's northern coast, Yilan, and greater Taipei mountain areas as the typhoon's circulation interacts with the northeast monsoon. The CWA warns of heavy to torrential rain in northeastern, eastern, and greater Taipei areas from Monday (Nov. 10) evening through Tuesday (Nov. 11). Environmental conditions may weaken the typhoon's intensity despite uncertain path and strength projections.
Weather officials predict a co-rotating effect Tuesday (Nov. 11) will increase torrential rain risks across Keelung's northern coast, greater Taipei, eastern regions, and Hengchun (恆春) Peninsula.
