TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taiwan Central Weather Administration (中央氣象署) warned of potential heavy rainfall and cooler temperatures from Oct. 19-22 as strengthening northeast monsoon and typhoon circulation affect Taiwan. Easterly winds brought sporadic showers to Yilan and Hengchun Peninsula (恆春) Thursday (Oct. 16), with similar conditions expected Friday (Oct. 17).
Weather conditions will shift to northeasterly winds Saturday, increasing rainfall on windward areas including Keelung's northern coast, northeastern regions, and Greater Taipei's mountainous areas. Friday easterly winds will bring scattered showers to these same regions, while other areas expect partly cloudy to sunny weather.
Northern and northeastern areas will experience temperature drops beginning Oct. 19, with cooler weather continuing through Oct. 22, while other regions face cooler mornings and evenings. The Central Weather Administration, Taiwan's national weather service, warned of possible localized heavy or torrential rain during this period. ◼
