TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan braces for an extended stretch of scorching weather as meteorologists predict intensifying heat through mid-September. Taiwan Typhoon Forum (台灣颱風論壇), a prominent weather analysis group, announced Wednesday (Sept. 10) that a strengthening Pacific high-pressure system will dominate the island's weather patterns. The forecast calls for clear, sweltering conditions from Sept. 11 to 14, with only brief mountain thunderstorms providing occasional relief that may occasionally reach lowland areas.
Meteorologist Wu De-romg (吳德榮) provided detailed forecasts in his weather column, predicting a subtle shift in atmospheric conditions by Sept. 15. The weather expert explained that rising moisture levels will sustain daytime heat while broadening afternoon rainfall zones across the island. Wu anticipates drier conditions returning Sept. 16, bringing predominantly clear skies and persistent high temperatures, though isolated mountain showers may still develop during afternoon hours.
The Taiwan Typhoon Forum issued warnings about the persistence of extreme heat conditions, emphasizing that the dominant Pacific high-pressure system will continue controlling regional weather throughout the week. Forecasters stressed that this atmospheric pattern will deliver relentlessly sunny skies and elevated temperatures across Taiwan. The weather analysis group cautioned residents that an active low-pressure system may develop next week, potentially disrupting the current stable but sweltering conditions. ◼
