Cheng revealed during his speech that the unconventional ensemble initially surprised him, explaining that significant encouragement from the designer was necessary before he embraced wearing it publicly. The remarkable creation by 2024 winner Chen Sheng-yuan showcases futuristic sunglasses, a shimmering silver overcoat, flowing black trousers, and eye-catching bubble shoes that perfectly embodied this year's ceremony theme of "Urban Mirage."
The prestigious award ceremony has reached its third year as a cornerstone event within the "Fashion in Taipei" series, an initiative championed by the Taipei City government. The Taipei City Office of Commerce (北市商業處), the city's commercial development agency, has successfully cultivated over 150 emerging designers since the program's inception. Among these talented individuals, 15 have achieved the remarkable milestone of presenting their creations on prestigious international fashion platforms.
Officials from the commerce office reinforced Taipei's dedication to consolidating industry resources in support of emerging designers. The program introduced an innovative model selection process this year, carefully choosing 10 rising talents to present the competition's finalist designs.
