TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Thousands of anime and comic enthusiasts flooded into the Taipei World Trade Center (台北世貿一館) Thursday (July 24) as the 24th Comic Exhibition (漫畫博覽會) officially opened its doors. The Chinese Animation & Comic Publishers Association (中華動漫出版同業協進會) projects the five-day cultural extravaganza will generate NT$300 million (around US$10.2 million) in business opportunities. Event organizers anticipate between 30,000 to 40,000 passionate attendees will explore the extensive offerings throughout the convention.
This year's exhibition runs simultaneously with the Taiwan Gamers Convention International (台灣國際電玩電競產業展) and the Movie & Toys Convention (台北國際電影玩具暨玩具創作大展), collectively featuring 1,200 exhibition booths. Association chairman Su Wei-chuan (蘇偉銓) emphasized the nearly 100 scheduled events throughout the convention period. He particularly highlighted the impressive cross-industry collaboration, including notable participation from major entertainment company B'in Music (相信音樂).
Deputy Culture Minister Li Ching-hui (李靜慧) observed the unprecedented crowd turnout, emphasizing the vital importance of cultural exchange both domestically and internationally. She highlighted the Ministry of Culture's newly launched inaugural Youth Comic Award program. The New Taipei City Government partnered with the Anime Comic Game ESports association (電競產業總會) to showcase their "New Taipei E-sports Power Up" themed pavilion. Vice Mayor Liu Ho-jan (劉和然) expressed optimism about public sector leadership in establishing emerging cultural trends.
The Comic Exhibition continues through next Monday, providing anime enthusiasts with an exceptionally diverse and immersive cultural experience. Event organizers and industry participants collectively anticipate a highly successful convention that celebrates contemporary popular culture.
