Taichung trains 15 vision assistants (TVBS News)

TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — Taichung's Labor Affairs Bureau (台中市勞工局) announced Friday (June 27) the completion of a 35-hour training program for vision assistants, with 15 individuals ready to begin service immediately. This initiative aims to bolster support for visually impaired individuals in Taichung by enhancing the expertise and enthusiasm of these newly trained assistants.

The bureau designed the training program around four core areas: professional knowledge, practical operations, service skills, and ethical guidelines. To develop their capabilities, participants engaged in simulation exercises, group discussions, and field practice. Lin Shu-yuan (林淑媛), the bureau's director, emphasized that these trained assistants possess professional skills and a passion for service.

The vision assistance services are divided into workplace administrative support and mobility orientation. The bureau matches assistants with visually impaired individuals based on their specific needs. Applications for workplace vision assistance services will be accepted through Oct. 31, and recruitment for vision assistants will continue until Nov. 30. For more details, interested parties can visit the Taichung Labor Affairs Bureau's website or contact the Taiwan Light House (台灣盲人福利協進會).
