TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Interior Minister Liu Shyh-fang (劉世芳) announced Friday (June 27) that PX Mart (全聯) will participate in town resilience drills in July. Liu noted that the drills, which include employee response and customer evacuation guidance, could expand to other private distribution points if successful. The Whole-of-Society Defense Resilience Committee (全社會防衛韌性委員會), part of the Presidential Office (總統府), held its fourth meeting a day earlier.
Liu revealed at the post-meeting press conference that the National Fire Agency (消防署) had prepared a list of items for emergency kits for public purchase. Liu emphasized that PX Mart, led by Chairman Lin Min-xiong (林敏雄), is committed to the drills without government subsidies, focusing on tasks like alarm dissemination and intelligence transmission.
The town resilience drills will occur in Taichung, Tainan, and Taipei on July 15, 16, and 17, respectively. Liu explained that morning tabletop exercises will precede afternoon live scenarios, requiring coordination with local governments to select critical infrastructure. The new air defense strategy will feature "zoned and staggered" alerts, differing from past Wan'an exercises.
Liu highlighted that the past year focused on state-owned distribution points, but future delivery of strategic supplies will prioritize the fastest distribution locations.
