NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The New Taipei City Government announced on Wednesday (June 25) that the MRT Sanying Line (捷運三鶯線) will be substantially completed by the end of this year, with operations slated to begin in March next year. The Transportation Department (交通局) will implement shuttle services and pedestrian flow enhancements to support the new line.
During a municipal meeting, the Department of Rapid Transit Systems revealed the public tender for the Tucheng-Shulin Line CQ880B section opened today. The project, encompassing civil engineering and electrical control works, has a budget of over NT$11.8 billion. Lee Cheng-an (李政安), director of the department, stated that the Sanying Line is undergoing rigorous testing, including 130,000 factory, installation, dynamic, and integration tests, and it is expected to finish by December.
Chung Min-shi (鍾鳴時), director of the Transportation Department, mentioned that starting in July, plans will be in place for public transport shuttles, pedestrian flow improvements, and traffic and parking management to prepare for the line's initial inspection. Liu Kuan-yin (劉冠吟), head of the Hakka Affairs Department (客家事務局), added that a shuttle service from MRT stations to the New Taipei City Hakka Museum (客家文化園區) is under consideration to boost tourism and cultural space utilization.
Mayor Hou You-yi (侯友宜) emphasized that the MRT will transform the city's landscape and enhance residents' quality of life. He urged the Department of Rapid Transit Systems to continue promoting domestic vehicle production and innovation to improve environmental engineering and transit capacity.
