TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The FOOD TAIPEI MEGA SHOWS (台北國際食品展覽會) opened Wednesday (June 25), with the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (對外貿易發展協會) estimating attendance will reach 45,000 this year. The exhibition has attracted 1,700 companies and set up 4,500 booths, marking a record size and a 2-3% growth compared to last year.
Organizers have invited 3,000 international buyers from 93 countries, promising lucrative business opportunities. Companies from 33 countries, including Japan, Australia, South Korea, and Singapore, participate. The U.S. pavilion, comprising over 80 companies, is the largest national.
Sung Chi-pei (宋奇沛), chairman of the Taiwan Food & Pharmaceutical Machinery Manufacturers' Association (台灣食品暨製藥機械工業同業公會), noted that the machinery and equipment industry faces significant challenges due to global supply chain disruptions. Meanwhile, Kuo Li-piao (郭豊標), chairman of the Taiwan Packaging Association (台灣包裝協會), stated that U.S. tariff policies and the appreciation of the New Taiwan dollar pose significant challenges to Taiwan's SMEs. Still, companies are actively expanding into international markets.
Exhibiting companies include Sunright Food (日正), Dachan (大成長城), Chimei Food (奇美食品), Anyong Freshmart (安永鮮物), Taiwan Sugar Corporation (台糖), and Lian Hwa Foods (聯華食品). The Future Food (未來食品) area's highlight focuses on plant-based products, emerging ingredients, and precision nutrition technologies.
