TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei's iconic shopping mall Q Square (京站) announced Monday (March. 3) its collaboration with Siemens (西門子) to enhance its air conditioning systems using Siemens' energy management technology. The project aims to save approximately 1 million kilowatt-hours annually, reducing carbon emissions by about 495 metric tons.
Q Square revealed in a press release that the energy-saving initiative will occur in two phases. The first phase, from May to November 2024, will focus on smart management of air conditioning units. The second phase, from August 2024 to August 2025, will involve energy efficiency improvements in the air conditioning plant room.
Q Square explained that the project would employ Siemens' energy management technology and participate in the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA, 經濟部) energy-saving subsidy program for the commercial service industry. The initiative is projected to reduce carbon absorption equivalent to 1.3 Da'an Parks (大安森林公園) annually.
Q Square plans to develop a comprehensive energy-saving strategy between 2024 and 2025 by replacing high-efficiency pumps and adding frequency converters to enhance the efficiency of chilled and cooling water systems.
