TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei City Government's Department of Sports (台北市體育局) announced Monday (Feb. 24) that the 2025 Taipei International Dragon Boat Championships (2025台北國際龍舟錦標賽) will run from May 30 to June 1, and will feature a new category for women over 50. In addition, the total number of teams will be increased to 232.
Registration opens March 17 at 10 a.m. and closes March 21 at 11 p.m. The department invites dragon boat enthusiasts from Taiwan and abroad to join, with registration available on the championships' official website. The competition will include large and small dragon boat categories, with divisions for men, women, and mixed teams, as well as government agency, high school, and senior categories.
The department emphasized its commitment to promoting age-inclusive and gender-equal sports by waiving the NT$3,000 registration fee for the new over-50 women's category. In April, competitors can participate in preparatory activities, such as paddle pool training and practice sessions on the Keelung River.
During the championships, the Dajia section of the Keelung River will host various booths and traditional Dragon Boat Festival activities, offering a festive experience for families. This year's event aims to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival and promote inclusivity in sports.
