TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Legislator Huang Shan-shan (黃珊珊) said on Wednesday (Feb. 19) that Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) may visit his father's memorial hall after submitting a formal application.
The former Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) chairman's father, Ko Cheng-fa (柯承發), passed away Monday, prompting party members and legislative caucus representatives to pay their respects.
Ko's family held a chanting ceremony at the Hsinchu Mortuary Services Office (新竹市殯葬管理所) before relocating Ko Cheng-fa's spirit tablet to a private life memorial hall in Hsinchu City.
Legislators Chang Chi-kai (張啓楷), Lin Kuo-chen (林國成), Wu Chun-cheng (吳春城), and TPP Secretary-General Chou Yu-hsiu (周榆修) visited the memorial Wednesday to honor the late Ko Cheng-fa.
Huang revealed that Ko Wen-je felt deeply saddened during his last visit to his father last year and regretted not seeing him in the past six months.
She added that Ko's mother, Ho Jui-ying (何瑞英), remains strong but occasionally sheds tears, while those around urge her to take care of her health.
Meanwhile, Chang assured the public that the party would fully support the family with funeral arrangements, respecting their wishes.
Earlier this week, Vicky Chen (陳智菡), the TPP's legislative caucus secretary-general, announced that the family, after discussions, set the farewell ceremony for March 10. The event will proceed with solemnity and dignity.
