TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Chunghwa Post (中華郵政) announced on Monday (Feb. 17) the completion of the "Northern Taiwan Mail Center" (北台灣郵件中心) within the Postal Logistics Park (郵政物流園區) near the Airport MRT A7 Station (機場捷運A7站). The company plans to launch operations in the first half of next year, expecting to process 250,000 parcels daily.
Earlier that day, transportation minister Chen Shih-kai (陳世凱) inspected the logistics park to assess the progress of the mail center. The facility, along with its operations center, has concluded construction and is undergoing building acceptance and automated sorting equipment installation. Chunghwa Post anticipates completing its inspection by the end of the year.
Chen emphasized strict progress control, urging timely and quality completion while ensuring efficient relocation planning, employee communication, customs coordination, and risk management.
Chunghwa Post plans to integrate the Taipei and Taoyuan mail processing centers and international mail operations at the Northern Taiwan Mail Center. The center will cover areas including Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Yilan, and Hualien, handling approximately 70% of the domestic mail volume.
Additionally, Chunghwa Post aims to attract startups in logistics and e-commerce to occupy the remaining 2,400 ping (around 7,933 square meters) of office space.
Chen instructed the logistics park's development to focus on enhancing postal services and encouraged diverse enterprises to join, fostering a collaborative logistics industry ecosystem.
The Postal Logistics Park spans about 17 hectares, with the logistics center operational since late 2022 and the information center completing acceptance in January.
