TAINAN (TVBS News) — The Yuejin Lantern Festival (月津港燈節) in Tainan drew to a close on Sunday (Feb. 16), drawing approximately 880,000 visitors throughout the event, according to the city government.
This year's festival, themed "Rings of Light" (光的年輪), showcased 66 artworks across four main areas, setting a record of nearly 30,000 daily visitors.
Tainan's Culture Affairs Bureau (台南市文化局) revealed that the Yuejin Art Museum (月之美術館) encouraged local residents to create alleyway art, enticing tourists to explore the Yanshuei (鹽水) town. Many of these pieces created by locals became popular photo spots later on.
Moreover, the Yuejin History House (月津故事館) featured the "One & Two, You & Me" (One &兔, You & Me) project, which repurposed secondhand fabrics into unique rabbit dolls, boosting local art tourism.
Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) has backed the new Xinying Shimmer Festival (新營波光節) at Swan Lake Park (天鵝湖公園), which combines cultural, ecological, and scenic elements. Running through March 16, the festival offers engaging events for visitors to experience Tainan's vibrant art scene.
