TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Temperatures across Taiwan are cooler on Monday (Feb. 17) as a cold air mass affects the island, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署).
The administration noted that residents in central and southern regions should expect significant temperature fluctuations between morning and evening.
Daytime temperatures will reach 19 to 20 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan, Yilan, and Hualien, while other areas will experience 22 to 24°C. At night and in the early morning, temperatures will drop to 13 to 14°C in central and northern regions and Yilan, with the remaining areas seeing 15 to 17°C. Penghu will maintain a range of 15 to 18°C throughout the day, Kinmen will experience 11 to 18°C, and Matsu will have 10 to 13°C.
The weather will remain mainly cloudy to clear across Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, though sporadic rain showers may occur in the eastern regions.
Strong gusts, reaching levels 8 to 9, are expected along the coastal areas from Taoyuan to Yunlin, Hengchun Peninsula, Orchid Island, Green Island, Penghu, and Matsu, prompting safety advisories for seaside activities.
Early morning low clouds or fog may impair visibility in Nantou, Changhua, and down to Kaohsiung, urging drivers to exercise caution. As the cold air mass continues to influence the region, residents should stay informed about weather updates to ensure safety.
