TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Temperatures across Taiwan will rise on Friday (Feb. 14) as the continental cold air mass weakens, according to the Central Weather Administration (中央氣象署). However, brief showers will persist along the northern coast of Keelung, the Greater Taipei, and eastern regions.
Meteorologist Lin Te-en (林得恩) highlighted that temperatures will further increase on Saturday, reaching highs of 23 degrees Celsius in northern and northeastern Taiwan. However, Lin warned that a new wave of cold air will descend on Sunday, potentially reaching the level of a strong continental cold air mass, causing a noticeable drop in temperatures in these areas.
The CWA forecasts that cold air will affect Taiwan until Wednesday, with a slow warming trend expected afterward. Lin noted that the radiative cooling effect could become particularly pronounced from the evening of next Wednesday to the morning of Thursday. Residents should prepare for this chilling effect, as temperatures may feel significantly colder during this period.
As the weather fluctuates, the public should stay updated with the latest forecasts and dress accordingly to avoid discomfort.
