TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Labor Minister Hung Sun-han (洪申翰) turned to social media on Tuesday (Feb. 11) to promote a new subsidy policy for unemployed workers' children. The minister cited the Ministry of Labor's (MOL, 勞動部) 60% cut in media promotion funds by the Legislative Yuan (立法院).

In his video, Hung stated that MOL faces a shortfall of nearly NT$80 million, which may affect the program's promotion effectiveness. He also asked netizens to share the video to widen its reach. MOL aims to support high school and college students with a maximum subsidy of NT$24,000.

Hung detailed the subsidy amounts, noting that eligible public high school students can receive NT$4,000, while private high school students are eligible for NT$6,000. Those attending public institutions can receive NT$13,600 for college students, and private institution attendees may receive NT$24,000.

Hung emphasized additional support for unemployed workers solely responsible for family income or with two or more children in college, offering a 20% increase in subsidy amounts. Hung urged potential applicants to act promptly, as the application deadline is March 7.
