TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini Thulisile Dladla arrived in Taiwan on Monday (Feb. 10) for her first diplomatic visit since assuming her current position in November 2023. She will meet President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and Vice Premier Cheng Li-chun (鄭麗君) during the five-day visit.
Her previous tenure as the first female minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Eswatini, from 2018 to 2023, showcased her strong support for Taiwan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA, 外交部) described her as a crucial ally in Taiwan's international engagement efforts.
Dladla's visit includes meetings with Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW, 衛福部) and the Ministry of Labor (MOL, 勞動部). She will also visit the Taipei School for the Hearing Impaired (台北市立啟聰學校) and the Garden of Hope Foundation (勵馨基金會) to discuss social welfare and women's empowerment.
Maintaining close ties with the embassy of the Republic of China in the Kingdom of Eswatini, Dladla has advocated for collaboration on women's empowerment, disaster prevention, and smart agriculture.
