TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Analysts noted on Thursday (Feb. 6) that TSMC's (台積電) American Depositary Receipts (ADR) climbed 2.22%, boosting the Taiwan stock market's performance in the night session by 181 points.
A day earlier, reports indicated that U.S. stock markets closed higher on Feb. 5, with major indices showing gains on Thursday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 317.24 points, or 0.71%, while the S&P 500 increased by 23.6 points, or 0.39%.
The Nasdaq Composite added 38.31 points or 0.19%, and the PHLX Semiconductor Sector surged 114.91 points or 2.31%. In corporate developments, Yageo (國巨) announced plans to acquire Shibaura Electronics (芝浦電子) shares through its Japanese subsidiary at 4,300 yen per share, approximately NT$921, aiming to complete the transaction in the third quarter.
Largan Precision (大立光) reported consolidated revenue of NT$4.94 billion for January, marking a 12% monthly decline but an 11% year-over-year increase. The company expects February's revenue to dip compared to January, yet anticipates stronger combined shipment momentum for January and February compared to the same period last year.
