NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The High Riverbank Construction Management Office (新北市高灘處) announced Thursday (Jan. 23) that repairs on the Crescent Bridge (新月橋), connecting Xinzhuang (新莊) and Banqiao (板橋), will conclude Jan. 25. The bridge, damaged in the April 3 earthquake last year, will fully reopen for traffic once the main suspension cables are restored.

Following the earthquake, the New Taipei City Government's High Riverbank Construction Management Office immediately began inspections and repair work, with the office initiating cable restoration on Dec. 26. Huang Yu-pin (黃裕斌), director of the High Riverbank Construction Management Office, credited the tireless efforts of the construction team for the anticipated completion of all 56 cables by Jan. 25.

Huang highlighted the features of New Taipei's riverside park, which boasts 210 kilometers of cycling paths and diverse recreational facilities, including the "Tamsui Golden Anchor Light Sculpture Exhibition" (淡水金色水岸光雕展) and the New Taipei Metropolitan Park Morning Light Bridge Light Sculpture Exhibition (新北大都會公園辰光橋光雕展).

As the Crescent Bridge prepares to reopen, residents and visitors can look forward to enhanced accessibility and leisure options during the Lunar New Year festivities.
