TAICUNG (TVBS News) — Taichung District Prosecutors Office (台中地檢署) conducted a body examination of a female sergeant major on Wednesday (Jan. 22), questioning the pilot, two ground crew members, and one on-site worker as witnesses. A tragic accident claimed the life of the female sergeant major at the Ching-Chuan-Kang Air Base (清泉崗基地) in Taichung (台中) a day earlier, as an IDF fighter jet engine fatally injured her during a post-landing inspection.
The investigation aims to clarify the sergeant major's exact cause of death. The incident occurred at approximately 10:50 a.m. when the sergeant major was sucked into the right engine of the F-CK-1 Ching-kuo fighter jet (經國號戰機), resulting in severe head and neck injuries. She was immediately transported to a local hospital, where medical personnel pronounced her dead at 11:38 a.m.
The 41-year-old sergeant major, surnamed Hu, graduated from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 2007 and recently transferred from an administrative unit to the Third Wing. The jet, identified as No. 1504, had participated in enhanced military exercises earlier this month. Authorities have yet to determine the cause and details of the accident.
