HSINCHU (TVBS News) — The Hsinchu County Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office (新竹縣動物保護防疫所) rescued 39 dogs from an illegal breeding site last year. After receiving care, sterilization, and completing legal procedures, they will be available for adoption on Wednesday (Jan. 22).
An illegal breeding site in Hsinchu's Xinpu Township (新埔鎮) was seized last October. The office reported that the dogs suffered from poor conditions, including dirty coats and health issues due to standing on metal bars. They provided clean living spaces and medical treatment, restoring the dogs to health over three months.
Among the dogs ready for adoption are 13 Shiba Inus, 19 Pomeranians, three Poodles, and two mixed breeds during the upcoming "Spring Adoption Event." To prevent the dogs from becoming commodities, the office will monitor adopters, limiting them to adults residing in Taoyuan, Hsinchu, or Miaoli.
Prospective adopters must pass a responsibility test. Individuals must check in by 8:45 a.m. on adoption day, bringing ID and proof of residence or employment. If multiple people want the same dog, a lottery will decide the adopter at 9 a.m. Interested individuals can visit the office's website for photos and details. The facility will be open for visits until Jan. 17, between 9-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m., allowing the public to meet the dogs. For adoption guidelines, visit the office's website and Facebook page.
