TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Radiative cooling caused temperatures to drop in several lowland areas of the main island, with Miaoli's (苗栗) Dahu (大河) recording the lowest at 11.3 degrees Celsius, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) on Friday (Dec. 6).
Increasing moisture may lead to heavy rainfall along the North Coast of Keelung (基隆), the Greater Taipei (大台北) mountain region, and the northeast.
The bureau observed other low temperatures early in the morning, including 11.9°C in Emei (峨眉) and 13°C in Baoshan (寶山) in Hsinchu County (新竹縣), 12.4°C in Zaoqiao (造橋), and 13.1°C in Tongxiao (通霄) in Miaoli County (苗栗縣).
The CWA forecasts that the northeast monsoon will continue to affect the region, with increased moisture bringing more clouds and sporadic rain to windward areas like Greater Taipei, Yilan (宜蘭), and Hualien (花蓮).
The weather bureau noted that the North and Northeast will remain slightly cool throughout the day, with other regions experiencing cooler mornings and evenings. The temperature range in these areas is expected to be between 17-20°C, with daytime highs of 20-25°C in the North, Yilan, and Hualien.
Other regions will see highs of 26-29°C. Penghu (澎湖) will have temperatures ranging from 20-23°C, Kinmen (金門) from 17-22°C, and Matsu (馬祖) from 15-18°C.
