TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Tigerair Taiwan (台灣虎航) plans to reward employees with an unprecedented bonus this year, marking a first in a decade. Chairman Chen Han-Ming (陳漢銘) announced on Wednesday (Jan. 15) that each employee will receive an additional NT$10,000 for the Lunar New Year celebration.
Tigerair Taiwan on Tuesday revealed an industry-leading end-of-year bonus, averaging 12.8 months' salary for its staff. Chen emphasized enhancing employee relations by introducing a NT$3,000 Labor Day bonus annually, starting this year, and distributing dividends entirely in cash.
The airline aims to expand its fleet by acquiring two leased aircraft by June and July, increasing its current fleet of 15 planes, and planning to add new destinations. Spokesperson Hsu Chih-yuan (許致遠) stated that the company continues to evaluate potential new routes and actively seeks to attract more international travelers to Taiwan.
Chen highlighted the importance of strong labor relations, noting they contribute to improved service quality and offer investors a stable environment. Tigerair Taiwan extended leases on four aircraft at the end of last year as part of its growth strategy. It is considering expanding routes in Northeast and Southeast Asia to meet market demand.
