TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's team clinched the championship at the WBSC Premier12, with intelligence gathering playing a pivotal role. CPBL president announced on Wednesday (Jan. 15) that the intelligence unit will continue its operations through the Olympics, highlighting its effectiveness in the tournament's success.
CPBL President Tsai Chi-chang (蔡其昌) stated that the intelligence work evolved from simple to complex, contributing significantly to the team's victory. He also noted that if the World Baseball Classic qualifiers and main tournament yield favorable results, the push to corporatize the national team will accelerate.
Tsai shared these insights during a commemorative EasyCard (悠遊卡) donation event, emphasizing that the Premier12 success has sparked interest in discussing the national team's corporatization, though it needs a gradual approach. Meanwhile, the CPBL solidified its collaboration with the Australian Baseball League last year, sending 12 players to Australia for matches this year. Tsai plans to depart for Australia on Thursday.
Tsai shared that the inaugural Taiwan Day event with the ABL, which aims to strengthen ties between the two nations through baseball, received enthusiastic responses from local expatriates.
