TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kaohsiung has earned the title of Taiwan's top emerging travel destination for 2024, as announced by travel app Klook (客路) in a press release on Thursday (Jan. 2). The city's thriving concert tourism scene has drawn the interest of both travelers and music enthusiasts. With its rich variety of activities and resources, Kaohsiung is rapidly establishing itself as a must-visit hotspot in the growing travel market.
Cheng Shu-heng (鄭書恒), a senior director at Klook, emphasized Kaohsiung's growing brand recognition. The city continues to build its brand reputation through its international concert experiences and safe, convenient facilities. Liu Hsiu-ying (劉秀英), deputy director-general of Kaohsiung's Department of Tourism (高雄市政府觀光局), added that the city is ideal for international events due to its rich cultural heritage and robust infrastructure.
Emma Lee (李雅寧), Klook Taiwan's general manager, noted that 84% of Asia-Pacific travelers have booked overseas trips for the next 12 months, according to Klook's survey. Lee also pointed out that 28% of travelers venture abroad to participate in local events, with cultural festivals, music activities, and sports events ranking as the top three attractions.
Other cities on the list include Darwin, Australia, Nikko, Japan, Phu Quoc, Vietnam, and Istanbul, Turkey.
