TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Executive Yuan (行政院) on Thursday (Dec. 26) expressed concerns over the impact of the "Act Governing the Allocation of Government Revenues and Expenditures" (財政收支劃分法) on central finances. The Executive Yuan warned of potential adverse effects on the administrative team, indicating a high likelihood of reconsideration.
Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) emphasized the severe impact on central finances and public interests. He stated that the Executive Yuan would cautiously approach the situation and develop remedial measures. Cho criticized the amendment for focusing solely on financial aspects without addressing responsibilities, calling it a significant oversight. He stressed the need for the central government to maintain adequate fiscal flexibility.
Michelle Lee (李慧芝), spokesperson for the Executive Yuan, highlighted the lack of a specified implementation date for the amendment as a significant obstacle. She assured that the Executive Yuan would seek remedies through constitutional means. When asked about the potential impact on next year's central government budget if the amendment remains unimplemented this year, Lee urged the Legislative Yuan (立法院) to expedite its review to ensure smooth national operations.
The Executive Yuan plans to convene experts and scholars for further discussions upon receiving the bill's documentation. The varying impacts of different bills may lead to separate remedial approaches.
