TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Tourism Administration under Taiwan's Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC, 交通部) announced on Sunday (Dec. 15) that Filipino tourism ambassadors Gabbi Garcia (加比加西亞) and Khalil Ramos (卡里爾拉莫斯) have recently visited Taiwan, leading to a 35% increase in Filipino visitors compared to the same period last year.
The administration reported that from January to October, over 370,000 Filipinos visited Taiwan, making it the top source of tourists from Southeast Asia. Garcia and Ramos promoted Taiwan tourism under the slogan "Panahon sa Taiwan Ang Iyong Love Story" (創造你的台灣愛情故事).
The Tourism Administration noted that the Christmas holiday season is a popular time for Filipinos to travel abroad, adding that the ambassadors embarked on a north-to-south journey, visiting attractions such as the Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung, the Kaohsiung Music Center, and Michelin-starred restaurants.
Huang Yi-cheng (黃易成), head of the Tourism Administration's International Division, revealed plans to open a Taiwan tourism service office in Manila on Dec. 20. This initiative aims to enhance local tourism consultation services and foster comprehensive collaboration with the Philippine tourism industry.
