TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Sports Administration (體育署) announced Thursday (Dec. 5) that it will distribute a record-breaking NT$460 million to those who contributed to Taiwan's sports on Friday. Sports Administration's Deputy Director-general Fang Jui-wen (房瑞文) stated that the award ceremony will honor participants from 50 international competitions, including the Paris Olympics. 451 individuals, comprising 331 athletes and 12 coaches, will receive the cash prize.

Taiwan's delegation secured two gold and five bronze medals at the Paris Olympics, with NT$139 million allocated for these accomplishments. Among them, Lin Yu-ting (林郁婷), a gold medalist in boxing at the Paris Olympics, will receive the highest amount, NT$20.9 million, to recognize her achievements in the women's 57kg category and her previous bronze medal at the IBA World Boxing Championships.

Meanwhile, Lee Yang (李洋) and Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟) will each receive NT$20.6 million for their historic consecutive Olympic gold in men's badminton doubles. Moreover, Taiwan's baseball team also made history by winning the WBSC Premier 12, with each of the 28 players receiving NT$7 million, totaling NT$196 million. The Sports Administration will also recognize researchers who are advancing sports science applications. This initiative aims to enhance Taiwanese athletes' training, physical recovery, and mental development.
