TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan has clinched the world championship in the WBSC Premier12 baseball tournament, prompting Taipei City to gather opinions on a potential commemoration around the Taipei Dome (大巨蛋) area on Wednesday (Nov. 27).
Taipei Deputy Mayor Lin Yi-hua (林奕華) expressed optimism about erecting such a monument but emphasized the need for the city's Department of Sports (體育局) to evaluate the plan. Lin noted that discussions must include the Chinese Professional Baseball League (中職), Farglory, and considerations about the monument's location and form.
Hsia Chih-hsien (夏至賢), a spokesperson for Farglory Group (遠雄集團), confirmed the company's commitment to cooperating with the city government to meet fans' expectations.
Wang Hung-shiang (王泓翔), head of the Department of Sports, highlighted the significance of the national team's journey, which began at the Taipei Dome and culminated in victory at the Tokyo Dome. He stressed that further discussion and evaluation with Farglory is necessary.
