TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's grand parade to celebrate its national baseball team's victory in the WBSC Premier12 championship officially began on Tuesday (Nov. 26) afternoon. Fans filled the streets to cheer for the champions, who will meet President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) at the Presidential Office later.
Head coach Tseng Hao-ju (曾豪駒) led the parade, with each vehicle carrying two players. Team members, wearing hoodies emblazoned with "TAIWAN," waved flags and smiled broadly, gold medals hanging around their necks. Captain Chen Chieh-hsien (陳傑憲) will speak on behalf of the players during their visit to the presidential office.
The General Assembly of Chinese Culture (文化總會) set up eight tents along the parade route, distributing limited-edition "TEAM TAIWAN" flags and small national flags. They encouraged the public to join the celebration and collect these special mementos.
The parade started at the intersection of Ketagalan Boulevard (凱達格蘭大道) and Gongyuan Road (公園路), and continued through Xiangyang Road (襄陽路), Guanqian Road's (館前路) "Hero Valley" (英雄谷), the south side of Section 1, Zhongxiao West Road, and Chongqing South Road Section 1. Fans lined the route, eagerly awaiting the team's arrival at the Presidential Office, expected by 4 p.m.
