TAITUNG (TVBS News) — Authorities reopened the Lake Jiaming National Trail (嘉明湖國家步道), Xiangyang Cabin (向陽山屋), and Lake Jiaming Cabin (嘉明湖山屋) on Monday (Nov. 18) after Typhoon Usagi (天兔) impacted the area. The Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency Taitung Branch (FANCA Taitung Branch, 林業及自然保育署台東分署) urged visitors to plan and prepare adequately for their trips.
The FANCA Taitung Branch also announced the reopening of several recreational areas, including the Jhihben National Forest Recreation Area (知本國家森林遊樂區), Dawushan Ecocenter (大武山生態教育館), and Liyu Mountain Forest Trail (鯉魚山森林步道). Moreover, trails like Madawdaw Trail (麻荖漏步道), Dulan Mt. Hiking Trail (都蘭山步道), Dawu Seascape Trail (大武觀海步道), Green Island Seascape Trail (綠島觀海步道), and Amei Mountain Trail (綠島阿眉山步道) are now accessible to the public.
However, the Guanshan Hongshi Trail (關山紅石步道), Antong Traversing Trail East Section (安通越嶺古道東段), and Jinshuiying Historic Trail East Section (浸水營國家步道東段) remain closed due to ongoing cleanup efforts. The Hongshi Forest Road (紅石林道) and Jinping Forest Road (錦屏林道) are fully open, while Jhihben Forest Road (知本林道) and Lijia Forest Road (利嘉林道) have partial access.
Yanping Forest Road (延平林道) and Wulu Forest Road (霧鹿林道) are temporarily closed for inspections and clearing operations. FANCA Taitung Branch advised caution due to unstable mountain weather, potential rain, and rockfalls, recommending that visitors assess safety conditions and stay updated on road statuses.
