TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Authorities dismissed a male officer from the Da'an Precinct (大安分局) on Monday (Nov. 18) after he allegedly installed a hidden camera in the women's restroom of a police station. His membership in the major local porn network "Chuangyi Sifang" (創意私房) led to his detention.
The Taipei City Police Department (台北市警察局) Da'an Precinct released a statement that the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office (TPC, 台北地檢署) had directed an investigation into the officer's suspected involvement in privacy invasion cases.
The precinct proactively requested a search warrant, executed searches at the officer's workplace and residence, seized relevant evidence, and transferred the case to the TPC for further investigation.
During the investigation, the officer, surnamed Kuo (郭), submitted his resignation, acknowledging his unsuitability for police duties. Despite his resignation, the precinct emphasized that due to the severity and clarity of the facts regarding his offenses, they imposed a strict dismissal and pursued accountability for the oversight in supervision.
The precinct affirmed its commitment to thoroughly investigating disciplinary cases within the police force, adhering to the principle of police discipline handled by police, neither wrongfully accusing nor condoning to demonstrate its resolve in purifying the team and maintaining the police reputation.
